The name derives from the old romanized name of the Fujian province of China, from where the first specimen was introduced to Europe, collected by Captain Hodgins in 1908.
Fokinia is a towering, approximately 20 to 25m, evergreen conifer native to warm, humid and mild forests in Vietnam, China and northern Laos.
In Vietnam, it is considered a precious wood because of its characteristic aroma and exceptional density; Hence, it is used in the manufacture of artwork, furniture, and high calorific charcoal . It is considered an ecologically endangered species in Vietnam.
In China, freshly harvested green cypress branches are burned to smoke and brining cured meats and sausages, sometimes in combination with grapefruit and tangerine peels
Production: Steam distillation of the wood. 30 kg make one liter of oil.
Fokienia blends well with Cedarwood, Frankincense , Grapefruit, Jasmine, Lavender, Neroli, Palmarosa, Sandalwood, Vanilla, and Ylang-Ylang.

Oily solution with a maximum of 5 – 10% for rubbing in or a few drops in almond or jojoba oil
For compresses or ablutions solution with a maximum of 20 drops in a glass of boiled water
