The Siberian spruce (botanically: Abies sibirica) grows as an evergreen tree that reaches heights of up to 40 meters. It belongs to the pine family (Pinaceae) and its home is northern Eurasia as far as China (there at altitudes of 1200 to 2000 meters). The essential oil of spruce needles is made from the branches in Siberia.

The essential oil “Spruce needles Siberian” is distilled from branches of the Siberian fir (botanical: Abies sibirica). In our usage, the oil is referred to as so-called “spruce needle oil”. The scent is forest-sweet, a typically fresh forest scent. The Siberian fir has a high proportion of monoterpene ester: This means that it has a strong anxiety-relieving, relaxing effect. This essential oil is therefore ideally suited for stress and mental imbalance.

The twigs and needles used for the distillation are mainly harvested in spring and autumn, because at this time the content of essential oils is particularly high.

Siberian spruce needle oil differs significantly from the oil made from spruce branches of the Alpine region in that it has a high content of camphene and a very low content of myrcene. In both cases, the oil gets its typical resinous smell from high amounts of bornyl acetate.
