The name rose can be traced back via the Latin pink to the Greek rhodon (rhododendron = rose tree). The following method is commonly used to extract rose oil: steam distillation, which is normal for the Damask rose ( Rosa damascena). Rose attar, on the other hand, is an Indian rose specialty in which rose petals are distilled on sandalwood. Rose Attar Essential Oil is produced in northern India using a “deg”, a portable still inwhichrose petalsare distilled over sandalwood for several weeks .The term attar is an old Persian word and goes back to the Arabic “itr”, which means “heavenly fragrance”.
This process can take many days.
Colloquially, however, rose oil or perfume mixtures with rose oil are sometimes referred to as attar
Thousands of years ago, Gulab – Rose Attar Essential Oil was already known in India as a remedy and in Arabia people bathed in rose water to reduce sweating and smooth the skin.
