The pepper plant is a persevering, woody climbing plant that grows up on trees and can grow up about ten meters high. In cultivation, the plant is usually kept at a height of 3 to 4 meters. The original home of this plant is India, especially the Malabar Coast, which gained wealth in connection with the India trade. As the Indian culture spread to Southeast Asia, pepper cultivation reached what is now Indonesia and Malaysia about 1000 years ago.

Red pepper consists of perfectly ripe, unpeeled pepper simmers and is usually placed in salty or sour sheets, similar to the green pepper. Compared to the green pepper, however, the pickled red pepper is rarely available. Even less often you can find the real red pepper in dried form.
