Bergamot belongs to the diamond family (Rutaceae). It is an evergreen tree that grows to around 4m. Bergamot organic grows in the Mediterranean region – mainly in Italy (Calabria). Over 90% of world production comes from Calabria.

The bergamot lemon takes its name from the bergamot pear (the similarity is amazing).

Bergamot oil became known as an ingredient in aqua mirabilis, a scented water that later became world-famous under the name of cologne. Earl Gray tea also owes its typical taste to the aroma of bergamot.

For 1 liter of oil you need about 200kg. Peel.

As a citrus fruit, bergamot is a magician of the sun and is considered a hybrid between lime and blood orange. Visually, the fruit can be compared to a small green orange. The beauty of its emanating fragrance is due to a rare and harmonious consonance of various odor components: They allow us to experience a combination of fruity sweeter with stimulating fresh notes.

The fact that citrus fruits are usually not harvested before the end of January allows the bergamot to absorb various qualities of light, from summer through autumn through winter. The oil reflects this amazing wealth of light qualities in its very special structure. Sunlight simply provides the basis for all plant life by working the miracle of photosynthesis.

Use: in the fragrance lamp, for baths, saunas, hair and aftershave lotions, natural perfumes, an oil for every occasion.

Tip: Store bergamot – like all other citrus oils – in a cool place! Mixes well with: Neroli, YlangYlang, rose, cedar, vetiver, rose geranium, lavender , Yarrow

Please note:
The ingredient furocoumarin increases the skin’s sensitivity to light. This is why bergamot should not be used on sun oils or in direct sun.

Add to 50 ml jojoba oil and shake well.
