The Fragrant violets ( Viola odorata ), also March violets or Fragrant violet called, belongs to the violet family (Violaceae).
Their home is the Mediterranean, Europe to the Caucasus.
The fragrant violet is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant. It grows to a height of between 5 and 15 cm. It has been cultivated in the garden since ancient times because it was used very early in both religious rites and medicine. Since the early Middle Ages at the latest, it has also been cultivated as an ornamental and medicinal plant in Central Europe.
