Tonka extract essential oil

The common tonka tree ( Dipteryx odorata) belongs to the butterfly family. The Tonka is about 20-25m high. The wood is called Cumarú or Brazilian teak and is very sought after. Its occurrences are in South America, Asia and West Africa. Tonka extract is obtained from the fruits and beans. Traditionally, tonka beans are fermented in rum and then air-dried. Tonka beans are used as a spice, for desserts, in Christmas bakery (stollen) and as a smoking substance.

About 50 kg beans make 1 liter of oil.

Tonka is also found as an essential oil in perfumes – especially men’s perfumes.

For a relaxing, cozy atmosphere, you can mix tonka with jasmine or neroli. If you are planning dream trips, meditation sessions, Reiki or other relaxing exercises, you can combine Tonkaessenz very well with fine floral scents.
TIP: 5 drops of Tonka extract, 3 drops Rose geranium and 2 drops Orange sweet

It is still used as a substitute for real vanilla.
