The South Sea myrtle (Leptospermum scoparium) is a shrub or tree with heights of up to four meters. The plant is also known as New Zealand myrtle, Manuka is the name in Maori, which has been recognized as the official language in New Zealand since August 1, 1987. Plant family: Myrtaceae. Origin: Mainly in mountainous parts of New Zealand and southeastern Australia (New South Wales).
Manuka is a traditional medicinal plant used by the indigenous people in New Zealand. The manuka tree belongs to the tea tree family, which also includes cajeput, niaouli and kanuka.
Manuka essential oil mixes very well with: lavender , Cajeput, rose , Ylang-ylang, niaouli, sandalwood , Bergamot, citrus fruits.
