Benzoin Siam bio
The benzoin tree belongs to the styrax family ( Styracaceae ). A distinction must be made between the types Siam Benzoin ( Styrax tonkinensis Craib. ) It grows in Thailand, Siam, Laos and Cambodia during the Sumatran Benzoin ( Styrax benzoin Dryand ). is localized. The resin is called benzoin. Hence the name of the tree.
It is an evergreen tree that uses resin. The smell of the slightly reddish SiamBenzoe is sticky, intensely balsamic, slightly chocolaty and reminiscent of vanilla .
From about 1.5kg resin you get 1ltr. Oil
In India: mixed with frankincense, used for smoking in temples. In the Russian Orthodox Church it is the main component of the Church incense. And not the resin of the actual frankincense tree.
